Gary Kahn is President of Zeitbyte. Prior to starting Zeitbyte, Gary specialized in the creation and implementation of content management systems for several enterprise companies, including John Wiley & Sons, Conde Nast, and Lehman Brothers. At John Wiley & Sons, he acted as a technical representative on the committee that wrote the first proposal for ONIX specification (which enabled the easy exchange of book and magazine data between publishers and retailers) and helped build the publisher’s titles database. While working for Conde Nast, Gary focused on the manipulation of data from Frommer’s and Fodor’s worldwide travel guides for the Concierge.com database. As part of Lehman Brothers’ content management team, Gary imported organization-wide information to a global e-commerce portal, as well as handled conversion of weekly economic reports into publishing-friendly online formats. In 1996, Gary created a free e-mail service that hosted over 32,000 accounts for an early virtual community that included bulletin boards, chat rooms, and an industry database. Gary has contributed to publications including Mac Life magazine (August 2010) and iMediaConnection.com (Oct. 15, 2011) and has spoken at events like Streaming Media East (“Strategies for Preparing Your Video for Tablets and Mobile Devices,” May 2011). He is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder.
